1. Start with Messages
Begin your shift by reviewing Messages to catch up on resident-specific updates from caregivers and other staff. Prioritize any unread messages that require clinical follow-up or clarification.
2. Review Active Alerts
Next, go to Active Alerts to identify changes in resident condition observed through caregiver charting. Work through each alert and determine the appropriate plan of action, then resolve the alert once follow-up is complete.

3. Work on your Nurse Tasks
After reviewing alerts, open Nurse Tasks to address tasks that require clinical review. Nurse Tasks often highlight inconsistencies between baselines, charting, and care plans. Complete the recommended action and mark the task as resolved or ignored.

4. Check Bathing status
Open Bathing to review residents who are approaching or past their bathing schedule. Use this view to identify missed or refused baths, review caregiver notes, and ensure appropriate follow-up when bathing is overdue.

5. Review Toileting trends
Go to Toileting to monitor residents who may need attention related to bowel or bladder patterns. This view helps you identify residents with no bowel movement in several days and respond to continence changes in a timely manner. Note - if there is a continence change for a resident, an Alert will be active calling out this change.

6. Monitor Nutrition intake
Check Nutrition to identify residents trending low intake. Residents with low intake over the past two days are highlighted, helping you prioritize follow-up and clinical review.

7. Review Restorative completion
Open Restorative to see today’s required restorative charting and which residents have active restorative programs. Use this view to monitor completion and address any missed restorative services.

8. End with Shift History
Before shift change or at the end of your shift, review Shift History to understand charting completion, missed documentation, refusals, restorative minutes, and caregiver activity. This helps you identify gaps that may need follow-up or escalation. You will also be able to analyse previous shifts for any charting outliers.
